Making Your Brake Rotors Last With OEM Parts

The brake rotors are the large metal discs that rotate with your wheels and provide the surface for your pads to grip. Maintaining a smooth and flat rotor surface is vital for the safety of your BMW, Porsche, Volvo, or exact model. If you feel a vibration in the pedal or hear a grinding sound, your discs may be warped or worn beyond their safety limits.

How to Maintain the Brake Rotors in Your BMW, Porsche, Land Rover, Volvo, or Land Rover

1. Visual Inspection

Look for blue discoloration, which indicates extreme overheating, or deep grooves that look like a record player.

2. Check for Lips

Feel the outer edge of the disc for a raised lip; a deep ridge means the rotor has been worn too thin.

3. Clean the Hub

Use a wire brush to remove all rust from the wheel hub surface before installing new rotors.

4. Remove the Retaining Screw

Most Euro cars use a small Torx screw to hold the disc to the hub. Ensure this is removed.

5. Apply Brake Cleaner

Wash the new genuine rotors with specialized cleaner to prevent rust.

Recommended Brake Upgrades

Splash Guards
Protect your new rotors from road debris and water.
Brake Pads
Always install fresh pads with new rotors to ensure they bed together perfectly.
Wheel Lugs
Secure your wheel to the hub with fresh hardware.

Your vehicle's safety depends on rotors that are up to factory standards. To find the best OEM parts, contact us at OEM Euro Parts today.
